Iran and several African and Middle Eastern countries will suffer a severe water crisis by the year 2025 if demand on the vital source of life persists at current rates, the assistant energy minister for water affairs said on Saturday.
Reza Arkanian, speaking at a ceremony for establishment of a regional center for drinking water, held in coordination with UNESCO, said the water share per person in the world stood at more than 1,000 cubic meters in 1950, but this share will drop to only 100 m by the year 2025.
