Iran's Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar on Friday stressed that his country will vigorously respond to any kind of aggression. According to Irna, he referred to threats by some Israeli officials regarding attacking Iran's nuclear sites. Mohammad Najjar said Iran's defense policy was quite defensive but stressed that Iranian "armed forces would provide a rapid, strong and destructive response if the country faced any aggression."

He added the vigilance of Iranian nation and readiness of its armed forces - parts of which were demonstrated during the recent maneuver of Velayat Lovers - would give way to no aggression.

The minister assessed as quite satisfactory the readiness of the armed forces in this part of the country and said particular programs underway by the army as well as the Islamic Republic Guards Corps in the region enhanced their readiness.
