The secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Hassan Rowhani, said in Tehran Tuesday that Iran`s nuclear dossier is on the verge of closure, emphasizing that the talks on its nuclear programs have been a great success.
Speaking to reporters, Rowhani added that in light of Monday`s IAEA Board of Governors resolution, the Iran nuclear issue should no longer be a top issue of the agency, IRNA reported.
"The resolution explicitly states that Iran`s nuclear activities are peaceful and this affirmation is a great achievement for the country.
"The new environment created for Iran is a turning point in the country`s nuclear case," he said.
The SNSC secretary said that Monday`s IAEA resolution was a confirmation of Iranian officials` assertions that the country`s nuclear programs are for peaceful purposes.
"After one year of regular inspections, this is the first time that International Atomic Energy Agency Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei and the Board of Governors has made a confirmation."
Rowhani made clear that the Islamic Republic had always been emphasizing that all its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes and the world should now notice that an international body has confirmed this matter, the official news agency added.
Regarding allegations by Iran`s enemies that the country was developing a nuclear weapons program, he said the international community was quite convinced that Iranian officials were truthful when they said it had no plans to produce a nuclear bomb, the news agency added.
