Iran and Syria have signed an agreement to boost their bilateral cooperation in the area of electricity, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).
The agreement covers various power projects such as production, transmission and distribution of electricity as well as designing and implementing the electricity development plans, said the agency.
Iran's Energy Minister Habibollah Bitaraf told reporters that the visit of the Syrian minister to Iran was a great step toward the development of the Tehran-Damascus bilateral cooperation.
He said that currently, much of the Iranian-made electricity equipment and products were bought by Syria.
He termed as brilliant the future of the electricity industry of Tehran and Damascus, saying the countries were to expand cooperation in this field.
For his part, Syrian Minister Munib Saim Al Daher said Iran enjoyed an advanced power industry – Albawaba.com
