ALBAWABA - After U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement to delay a planned attack on Iran's nuclear plants, citing 'good' talks with Tehran, Iranian media denied negotiations with the U.S.
Trump said that postponing Iran power plant strikes came after 'very good' talks with Tehran. He revealed the U.S. and Iran have held "productive conversations" over the weekend and that he froze any military plans to attack Iranian energy sites for five days.
He wrote on Truth Social, "I AM PLEASE TO REPORT THAT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND THE COUNTRY OF IRAN, HAVE HAD, OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS REGARDING A COMPLETE AND TOTAL RESOLUTION OF OUR HOSTILITIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST."
Trump added that talks between Washington and Tehran will continue this week.
Earlier, the U.S. President gave Iran 48 hours to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, saying if Tehran fails to do so, "America will hit and obliterate their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST!"
On the other hand, Tehran's Defense Council threatened to deploy mines to block the entire Persian Gulf if Iran's coasts or islands are attacked, state media reported Monday.
