An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the open-ended Richter scale rocked suburbs of the southeastern city of Zarand in Kerman province on Tuesday.
Iran Seismological Center affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the tremor at 11:30 local time (0800 GMT), <i>IRNA</i> reported.
The center reported that the earthquake occurred in an area situated in 30.59 degree latitude and 56.03 longitude near Zarand. No reports on possible damage caused by the tremble have been available yet.
