Iran's president-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that the Iranian and Iraqi nations should have closer collaboration with each other on all scenes.

Ahmadinejad told visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari that exchange of pilgrimage visits should be facilitated by Iran and Iraq whose borders have turned into a border of friendship and fraternity.

According to IRNA, the president-elect said violent and terrorist moves would serve only enemies of Islam and provide pretext for attacks on Muslims.

He said Iran is ready to cooperate with the government of Jaafari in guaranteeing stability and security in Iraq and reconstruction of the country.

He added that expansion of commercial relations, connection of Basra and Khorramshahr railway track and laying of Basra-Abadan pipelines as well as establishment of air links between Tehran and Baghdad would be in the interest of both countries. He said that Iran is happy with democracy in Iraq.
