Iran, Oman Discuss Economic Cooperation

Iran and Oman on Thursday discussed various aspects of economic and commercial cooperation in meeting by Omar Zawawi, the Economic Advisor of Sultan Qaboos Bin Said of Oman and Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister in Economic Affairs Mohammad Hossein Adeli, reported Iran’s news agency (IRNA). 

Adeli is currently in Muscat to attend a conference of the Association of Regional Cooperation of the Indian Ocean Coastal states. 

The two-day ministerial conference will begin on Saturday and Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi will represent Iran at the head of a legation. Preparatory meetings of the conference began on Thursday with the participation of the representatives of 19 countries. 

According to the Foreign Ministry Press Office, the Omani official stressed that his country is eager to use more the existing potentials for expanding the cooperation between the two countries and said the port of Sallalah is an important seaport for transfer of goods. 

Zawawi was quoted as saying that the projects to develop the port are being implemented and called for more cooperation between Iran and Oman in the ports of the two countries – Albawaba.com
