Iran and Germany signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Brussels on Saturday to expand customs cooperation between the two countries, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).

The agreement, which was signed on the sidelines of an international meeting of heads of customs administrations, is the first such document to be signed between Iran's Customs Administration and an EU member state.

Under the agreement, which was inked by the Iranian Customs Chief Mehdi Karbasian and his German counterpart, customs offices of the two countries will cooperate in exchanging data, promoting trade, exchanging technical know-how, preventing customs-related offenses, fighting drugs and facilitating visits by officials, said IRNA.

The German customs also agreed to hold training courses for Iranian customs staff.

The MoU will further increase Tehran-Bonn economic cooperation, it said – Albawaba.com
