One of the main perpetrators of last Wednesday's bombing in the southeastern city of Zahedan was hanged in public Monday morning.
Nasrollah Shanbe-Zehi was hanged at the same place where the bombing took place upon the orders of the local revolutionary court, IRNA reported. He was found guilty as a principal in the deadly attack that killed 11 members of the province's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and injured 31 others.
A large number of Zahedani residents witnessed the execution of Shanbe-Zehi. According to IRNA, locals who witnessed the execution voiced support for his hanging by chanting anti-US and anti-Israel slogans.
The car bomb attack in Zahedan, 40km from the Pakistani border, Wednesday last week was followed two days later (Friday) by late night clashes and a percussion bomb explosion which wounded one person.
Zahedan Governor General Hassan-Ali Nouri, speaking to IRNA a couple of days ago, accused foreign agents of being behind the blasts.
