Iran’s Police Clash with Armed Bandits in Iran, Three Dead

A three-hour shootout between security forces and an armed gang of robbers in the southern Iranian province of Shiraz left two policemen and one robber dead, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).  

Three other robbers were arrested in the incident.  

The head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Police (IRIP) in Shiraz, Hossein Zolfaqari said that the police had broken up the band after discovering their hide-out.  

Members of the gang were notorious for armed robberies, banditry as well as repeated offenses, he said.  

Police were continuing investigation into the extent of the gang's activities in a southern city suburb, Zolfaqari added – Albawaba.com
