The head of the Iranian judicial branch, Ayatollah Mahmoud

Hashemi Shahroudi, on Sunday accused the United States of supporting the “brutality of the Zionist regime.”

In a meeting with top judicial officials in Tehran, Shahroudi said the international community's inaction in the face of the “brutality against the defenseless Palestinians is a dark point for the human beings living in the 20th century.”

"What kind of human law and what kind of conscience can dictate destruction of houses over their owners' heads and opening fire on the infants and the elderly?" Shahroudi said.

The official said that the Israeli media were justifying such brutal acts, adding that “the so-called civilized countries do nothing to stop murder of the infants and the elderly by the Zionist regime.”

Iran does not recognize Israel and favors a peace plan which would see the return of all Palestinian refugees followed by a referendum on the future of the Palestinian territory occupied by Israel – Albawaba.com
