IBM and Gulf Business Machines Qatar (GBM) on Saturday unveiled the latest IBM pSeries servers, which GBM claims are shattering e-business performance records.
The presentation took place at a roadshow held recently at the Marriott Hotel in Doha, Qatar.
The event for IBM and GBM customers included discussions by senior visiting IBM/GBM executives on the latest IBM innovations.
Company official Ian Roscow presented an overview of the pSeries and highlighted the implications for companies operating in Qatar.
Roscow said in a press release published on AME-Info.com that "the most powerful and most cost-effective Unix servers available today, the IBM eServer p620 and p660, provide the necessary speed and reliability for customers to run their most important business applications, including e-business, supply chain, customer relationship management and business intelligence.”
The p620 and p660 are the IT industry's first mid-range Unix servers that contain IBM pioneered Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) technology, which greatly increases server performance and up-time, said the statement.
"Microprocessors built with SOI can run up to 35 percent faster and much cooler than with traditional aluminium chips because of reduced heat emission," explained Sudarsan Chakravarthy, IBM eServer pSeries product manager at GBM, who also attended the event – Albawaba.com
