ALBAWABA - A massive fire took over a major police facility in the Egyptian city of Ismailia earlier on Monday, with at least 26 injured.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and contained the fire after hours. Videos posted on social media showed the city's security directorate engulfed in flames. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Two witnesses told the Reuters news agency fire engines had been sent to the scene but appeared to be struggling to contain the blaze. Some people were seen being brought out but it was not clear whether there were any casualties.
Some of the injured were transferred to a local hospital, 24 had suffered from "asphyxiation" and two from burns, local media reported citing the health ministry. Twelve more were treated at the scene, AFP reported.
The health ministry deployed 50 ambulances to the scene, which were joined by military emergency services including two planes, according to state media.
