Fear has hit San Pedro Sula in Honduras as hardened street gangs vowed to step up a terror campaign against the population and government officials trying to put them out of business.

On Christmas Day, the people in the Chamelecon sector of the city, where the attack took place on a desolate street, put planned celebrations on hold to mourn the dead. President Ricardo Maduro went to the crime scene and pledged to bring to justice the victims and the perpetrators.
Maduro announced a reward of $53,000 for anyone providing information that leads to the arrest of those responsible.
Suspected gang member Alexis Ramírez, 23, was arrested in San Pedro shortly after the attack while driving a car with two assault rifles, two pistols and ammunition, officials said.
