Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah warned on Thursday in a televised speech that if Israel attacks Beirut, his fighters would launch rockets that would hit Israel's major city, Tel Aviv.
"If you strike Beirut, the Islamic Resistance will strike Tel Aviv and it is able to do so," Nasrallah stated.
He added that his group's rocket attacks on northern Israel were continuing at a stronger pace, adding that Hizbullah would cease firing rockets on Israeli cities if Israel halted its attacks on Lebanese towns. "(If) at any time you decide to stop your campaigns on our cities, suburbs, civilians and infrastructure, we won't strike with rockets any settlement or Israeli city ..." he said.
Nasrallah ridiculed the Israeli commando raid on Baalbek in which five Lebanese were abducted and at least 10 more killed and called it a "military failure." He said that the ground fighting between Israeli troops and Hizbullah men were becoming more intense and widespread. Nasrallah vowed that his men are "fighting until the last breath and last bullet." Nasrallah called it a "miracle" that his forces have held the Israelis back so far.
