Lebanese resistance movement, Hizbollah, attacked on Saturday an Israel tank in the disputed Shabaa farms, killing at least one soldier according to reports. The MBC satellite channel said that Israel admitted the killing of one soldier, but the deputy chief of the movement, Naim Qassem, told the station that Hizbollah fighters shelled the tank, and all inside were injured or killed.
In retaliation, Israeli warplanes carried out two raids on the south.
Two Israeli fighter-bombers fired two missiles twice at a 20-minute interval on the Seddana hill near Shabaa village.
In a statement earlier, Hizbollah said that its military wing "Al-Aqsa Brigades" blew up the Israeli tank at 2:20 p.m. (1130 GMT) in the "enemy-occupied" Shabaa Farms.
Al-Manar TV Channel displayed footage of the operation.
Israeli forces returned fire but there were no immediate reports of injures.
Lebanese sources said that Israeli artillery and helicopters immediately responded, firing some 90 shells at villages facing the Shabaa Farms.
The movement kidnapped three Israeli soldiers in the same area last October.
The operation is the first military attack since February.
