ALBAWABA - An Israeli airstrike killed two Hezbollah fighters in Syria as they were riding a truck near the borders with Lebanon, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
As Israel continues its brutal war on Gaza, the strikes on Hezbollah-affiliated sites have intensified, targetting prominent leaders of the Lebanese group. SOHR released a report saying "Using an airstrike, Israel targeted a civilian truck near the Syrian-Lebanese border in an area overlapping between Homs and Rif Dimashq governorates".
"The airstrike resulted in the killing of at least 2 Hezbollah fighters" the SOHR report continued.
Major areas in Syria like Damascus and its countryside have been frequently a target for Israeli airstrikes. The latest was an apartment in the Syrian town of Kafar Sousah which led to the killing of 3 people, including one holding a Syrian nationality.
Over the past years, Israel has launched hundreds of airstrikes in Syria, mainly targeting Iranian and Lebanese Hezbollah targets, including warehouses, shipments of weapons and ammunition, as well as Syrian Military posts.
Hezbollah has mourned at least 14 fighters who have spent Israeli fire inside Syria since the start of the war on October 7. On 3 February, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari announced that his country had attacked more than 50 Hezbollah targets in Syria since the start of the war in Gaza.
