Five family members were killed Tuesday evening as their sedan crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer on the opposite direction in northeastern Iran, the local traffic police department announced.
It said the accident took place on the road from Neishabour to the
holy city of Mashhad when the sedan driver swerved to the left as he tried to overtake another car moving in the same direction, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).
Three occupants died instantly and two of them succumbed to their serious injuries on the way to a nearby hospital.
