Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri arrived Sunday evening in Cairo for a two-day visit, reported the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Hariri will hold talks with his Egyptian counterpart Atef Ebeid on the latest international developments and bilateral relations.
Hariri was in Iran Sunday for talks with President Mohammad Khatami and senior officials.
Hariri, on a quick one-day visit, first met with Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref on the need for Muslim countries to "adopt a common stance against terrorism," the official Iranian news agency (IRNA) reported.
Aref called for an "all-out and wise confrontation" against the "phenomenon" of terrorism, the report said, but also repeated Iran's calls that any anti-terror campaign be led by the United Nations.
They also called for ties between their countries to be strengthened, especially in economic fields.
Later in the afternoon, Hariri met with Khatami, with whom he discussed the consequences of a likely US military attack against Afghanistan.
Afghanistan is believed to be harboring Osama bin Laden, who Washington has labelled the prime suspect in the September 11 attacks in New York and Washington.
During the meeting, the Iranian leader said: "The attacks in the US should not result in the oppression of the innocent people of Afghanistan."
He also expressed the wish that "humanity can draw lessons from history, about war, murder and prejudice" and that "(Humanity) establishes peace in the world by using dialogue, reason and justice."
For his part, Hariri called for "greater coordination among Islamic countries in the worldwide fight against terrorism." – Albawaba.com
