A lone gunman wounded a judge at Lebanon's Justice Ministry Monday, security officials said.

Judge Fadi Nashar was hospitalized in a serious condition, AP reported. "He is stable. He is going to make it, hopefully," a hospital doctor said. "He has got a bullet wound in the chest perforating the lungs."

Nashar is the head of the Court of Urgent Cases in Beirut, which deals with financial and other civil cases that must be settled quickly.

The attacker, identified by court sources as Khalil Ali Sinno, was arrested and charged with trying to kill the judge and two other court employees who were in the courtroom at the time. Lebanon's Interior Minister Elias al-Murr said initial investigations indicated the gunman had acted alone, despite earlier reports of a possible second attacker.

"There is no other suspect," he told reporters. "The initial information that he (the suspect) gave us is that he is alone." (Albawaba.com)
