ALBAWABA- Canadian authorities are investigating a shooting at the United States Consulate in Toronto after multiple gunshots were fired at the diplomatic mission early Tuesday in what officials described as a “national security incident.”

According to the Toronto Police Service, the attack occurred around 5:30 a.m. local time when two unidentified suspects arrived in a white SUV, exited the vehicle, and fired several handgun rounds at the front entrance of the consulate on University Avenue before fleeing the scene. Investigators later recovered shell casings and documented damage to the building’s door and glass façade.

No injuries were reported, and the building’s reinforced security prevented further harm. Officials from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the case is being handled by a joint national security task force, working alongside U.S. authorities, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Security has been increased around U.S. and Israeli diplomatic sites in both Toronto and Ottawa as a precaution.

The incident comes amid heightened global tensions following the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran, which began after coordinated U.S.–Israeli assaults on Iranian military and nuclear facilities in late February.

Since then, Tehran has launched waves of missile and drone attacks against Israel and U.S.-aligned targets across the Middle East, while warning that American and Israeli diplomatic facilities could become targets in retaliation.

Although Canadian investigators have not confirmed any direct link between the Toronto shooting and the wider conflict, the attack occurred days after protests outside the consulate condemning the U.S.-Israeli war and amid growing global demonstrations related to the crisis.
