The Muscat Festival, which is by far Oman’s biggest family event, will soar to new heights as the official carrier of the event, Gulf Air, takes its participation to a higher level.

"The Muscat Festival is by far the biggest event that represents Oman's legendary history, culture and tradition and as a strategic partner in the Sultanate’s development we are proud to back an event of such magnitude, which attracts thousands of people from in and outside the country every year," says Gulf Air Vice President Marketing and Sales Lee Shave.

For a second year in a row, Gulf Air will be the Gold Sponsor of the festival to be held from 1 January to 2 February 2007.

“Following the successes of the event over the past years, we are taking our participation to a higher level in 2007,” says Lee adding that the airline, like in 2006 will have grand stand at a prime location in Oman, an interactive football game at the stand, a Gulf Air- hot air- balloon will rise to the occasion and to top it all even some of the airline’s livery flying into Muscat will also bear the festival banner.

Visitors to the fun-filled event will get a “close to reality” experience of driving a Formula One Grand Prix car, but in F1 simulators.  The fun-filled event will also feature Gulfy, the airlines cute and cuddly mascot, at the stand located at the popular Al Qurum National Park. The stand will also showcase many of  Gulf Air’s unique, award-winning products and services.

The selling of Gulf Air branded Oman Football merchandise and several candidates from Gulf Air award-winning call center will participate in the event along with top players from Oman’s national football teams.

Gulf Air is the official sponsor of the Omani national football teams as per a multi-million dollar agreement signed in May this year and as part of its backing the airline’s stand will sell branded Oman football merchandise. Some key players from the national squads will also feature at the stand to entertain fans.

“We want to raise the profile of Muscat Festival internationally and we want to make this an exciting and a memorable experience for all who visit this magnificent festival,” says Lee adding that the festival will be promoted throughout the Gulf Air’s network, it’s in flight services and other marketing tools.

"We are commited to one of our key hubs, Oman and this participation reinforces this relationship between us and the Sultanate which is emerging as a key tourism and business destination in the region,"
