Mrs. Ulla Wolf, the director of the German Institute of Algiers, has decided to open a branch of Goethe Institute in Tizi Ouzou. This came following a request by the Berber Cultural Association - ACB (Association Culturelle Berbere). Mrs. Wolf explained that the German Institute was pleased to hear that ACB members are interested in incorporating German language studies in their work program. She stressed that the German side is going to assist its new partners in various ways such as training its instructors and offering them help with the organization of lessons.

Liberte Algerie reports that the Goethe Institute in Algiers, which was closed for about a decade, reopened its doors in December 2004 and currently offers six levels of German language teaching.
