ALBAWABA - Israeli Channel 12 has released the contents of a secret military document that admits the "Gideon's Chariots" operation in the Gaza Strip failed.
The report says that the campaign, which started in May 2025 with the goal of defeating Hamas and freeing Israeli prisoners, has not met its main goals.
The leaked document said that the failure was due to bad operational planning and the strategy used against Hamas not being right. Hamas's guerrilla-style combat tactics were very effective against Israel's conventional military approach.
The report also said that Israel "made every possible mistake," such as not having a clear operational timeline, which caused the execution to be disorganized and the strategy to go wrong.
Israel's Security Cabinet gave the go-ahead for the operation in early May. It was planned to be a three-phase campaign to gain military and political control in Gaza.
The plan called for using five different types of pressure on Hamas to get them to agree to a prisoner exchange and take down their military infrastructure.
The Israeli army called up tens of thousands of reserve soldiers to carry out the plan, hoping that a large-scale deployment would bring quick results.
The classified report, on the other hand, says that the operation did not meet its main goals and has raised serious concerns among Israel's military and political leaders about how well current strategies are working in Gaza.
