Authorities in Syria have named Ghazi Dib director general of the official Syrian Arab News Agency SANA, replacing Ali Abdul Karim who was dismissed last month, the government daily Tishrin said Wednesday.
Dib, who held the post of SANA's chief editor, was temporarily put in charge of running the news agency on April 20, the day Abdul Karim was removed.
Furthermore, Tishrin said that Fahd Diab, a 45-year-old economic journalist, was named head of the official daily Ath-Thawra.
A general replacement of heads of Syria's tightly-controlled official media has taken place since Bashar al-Assad rose to the presidency in July 2000 following the death of his father. (Albawaba.com)
