Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have terminated the contract of Ghanaian striker Ibrahim Tanko after he tested positive for marijuana in November, the club announced Wednesday.
Tanko, who has been with Dortmund since 1992, failed the dope test after a German Cup match against Schalke O4 on November 29.
The 23-year-old, who is due to join SC Freiburg next summer, now faces a lengthy suspension.
"We are shocked by this news and have taken appropriate action," Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said Wednesday.
Freiburg officials said they were unconcerned by the drug test and still intended to take on Tanko -- DORTMUND (AFP)
