A German Tornado warplane crashed Thursday off the northern coast of the Netherlands during a training flight, but its two crewmen ejected safely, the Dutch defense ministry said.
The Tornado came from the nothern German airbase of Eggebeck, close to the border with Denmark, and crashed into the sea near the tiny isle of Vlieland, the ministry said.
One of the crewmen parachuted onto a Vlieland beach while the other landed in the sea ans was picked up by a Dutch helicopter.
A special German-Dutch team will investigate what caused the accident, the ministry said -- THE HAGUE, (AFP)
