A car blew up Sunday in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, killing a German person, Saudi and German officials said.
According to AP, the Saudi Interior Ministry said in a statement that the car was owned by a German resident but the identity of the victim was not immediately known. However, in Berlin, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said the victim was a German national.
The explosion occured at 4:26 p.m. and an investigation was continuing, police said,
There have been several car bombings targeting foreigners in the kingdom and Saudi authorities have blamed disputes between gangs dealing in alcohol.
