German business leaders said on Wednesday they saw the devastating terrorist attacks on the United States last week as a challenge.
"German industry will take up the challenge presented by attempts to cripple democracy, freedom and competition via acts of terrorism," the leading industry federations, BDI, BDA, DIHK and ZDH said in a joint statement.
"Our country in particular needs free world trade and our companies will continue their worldwide activities," the statement said.
"Any hesitation plays into the hands of terrorist forces," the federations said.
German industry now expected politicians to implement measures to combat terrorism, with domestic and foreign security the top priority, they said -- BERLIN (AFP)
