Kuwait's armed forces have announced that joint naval drills code-named "Solidarity 7" will begin Tuesday, with Kuwaiti marines and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) speedboats taking part, according to the official Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA).
A statement released by the Kuwaiti army moral guidance and public relations directorate said the GCC naval speedboats would carry out live ammunition drills from 10:00am to 16:00pm local time (GMT +3).
The drill will be carried out in two stages. The first will take place in an area falling between the Qaro Island, Umm Al Maradem Island, Zor port and northwest Qaro Island.
The agency added that the second drill area was restricted to the square formed by Kubbar Island, Oha Island and eastern points of the two islands.
The directorate appealed to citizens and residents to keep away from the two live fire areas.
The six members of the GCC are Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Oman and Kuwait, which are bound by a joint defense pact – Albawaba.com
