Gaza Strip: Car blast targets Arafat relative

A car bomb went off near Palestinian security headquarters in Gaza City after Tuesday night as security chief Musa Arafat's convoy was leaving, witnesses said.  

 

The convoy was seen speeding away from the scene as security officers fired submachine guns in the air. The convoy was heading toward Arafat's house, The AP reported. Musa was not wounded in the blast. 

 

Hospital sources said a bystander was wounded. 

 

Musa, is a cousin of Palestinian president Yasser Arafat. His appointment as overall commander of Gaza Strip security in July was canceled following widespread street protests, as Gazans complained that Musa Arafat was involved in corruption. 

 

The Israeli military denied any invo;vement in Tuesday's blast. (albawaba.com)
