A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip landed in southern Israel on Sunday in the latest violation of a truce called a week ago, an Israeli military spokeswoman said.
There were no injuries caused by the rocket that hit a collective farm near the Israel-Gaza Strip border. So far, more than a dozen rockets have been fired despite the ceasefire, none causing any casualties, Reuters reported.
Meanwhile, Israel has rejected Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi's proposal to increase his nation's involvement in the Middle East by placing Italian forces on the Syria-Lebanon border, as well as a multinational force along the Philadelphi route in Gaza Strip. According to Ynetnews, Prodi told an Israeli deputy that Italy is interested in helping prevent arms smuggling to Hamas.
Prodi added that a multinational force should be deployed in the West Bank as well, in order to promote a cessation of violence between Israeli and Palestinian forces.
