An Israeli gunship helicopter fired two missiles at a car in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday evening, in an assassination attempt of a top Hamas activist. The missiles were fired at a vehicle belonging to Hamas military activist, Jamal Al-Jarah, who suffered moderate injuries. His brother, Rami, who was in the car with him was lightly injured.

Hospital officials in Gaza said at least 13 people were wounded in the attack, one of them sustaining moderate injuries.

Eywitnesses said the attack took place in Al Jalaa Street at the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood as the car was traveling there.

The vehicle's passengers escaped injury in the attack that wounded a bystander, the witnesses said.

Hamas spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin on reacted to by saying Israel would pay a heavy price for the attack. "These massacres and crimes prove that Israel is seeking violence and not looking for peace, security and stability," he said. (Albawaba.com)
