Gaza will soon fall under a unity government agreement reached Thursday by rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah, AFP and Reuters reported.
The move comes ahead of major negotiations scheduled with Israel for October, AFP reported.
Under the Egyptian-mediated accord, President Mahmoud Abbas' unity government will take control in the area, Reuters said. August's ceasefire deal with Israel had included provisions for Abbas' government to take over from Hamas, but tensions rose between the two factions, the report said.
