ALBAWABA - French culture minister Rachida Dati announced on Sunday that a robbery took place at the Louvre in Paris, the BBC reported.
The Louvre, which is one of the most famous museums across the globe, will remain closed during the day following the incident,
"No injuries to report," Dati posted on social media, adding, "I am on site alongside the museum teams and the police. Investigations are underway."
According to the LeParisien newspaper, Several criminals smashed windows to steal jewelry this Sunday morning at the famous museum on Rue de Rivoli in the French capital.
Two men entered the building, while a third remained outside, and they took nine pieces from Napoleon and the Empress's jewelry collection: a necklace, a brooch, a tiara, and more.
According to the initial investigation, the fully hooded criminals gained access to the building on the Seine River side, where construction work was taking place, and committed their robbery.
