Already famed for its contemporary take on traditional Indian cuisine, Le Meridien Al Aqah’s Swaad restaurant has been given a fresh and funky aesthetic makeover.
Injecting a new and vibrant atmosphere into the restaurant, and based on customer feedback, hotel management decided to cut down on the number of tables, lighten the paint color and remove some of the clutter which is normally associated with Indian restaurants.
Hotel’s Food and Beverage Manager Gian Raffaele Sabbatucci, with input from Patrick Antaki, his general manager, headed to India to hand-pick authentic crockery, cutlery and traditional Décor. Today, Swaad is light and airy and in addition to a superb garden view, is enhanced with paintings by the acclaimed French artist, Ms. Martine Avec Loiseau.
“Our decision to refurbish Swaad was based primarily on feedback and our commitment to meeting all customer needs. Thanks to Tucci’s discerning eye, Swaad now provides a comfortable yet upbeat atmosphere in which to sample some of the finest South Asian food this side of the Indian Ocean,” said Patrick Antaki, general manager, Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort.
“Whilst the menu remains true to Chef Bybee Chacko’s original concept - therefore maintaining the restaurant’s loyal following - the newly refurbished dining room represents a total transformation and is therefore forecast to attract a new but equally astute crowd keen to sample North and South Indian specialties,” he added.
