The French President Jacques Chirac and his wife, Bernadette left Paris this week to spend the Christmas vacation in Marrakech, the former imperial capital of south Morocco, according to the Moroccan press.
The French President is very familiar with Morocco, and will spend one week in the country. Last year, the Presidential couple spent their holidays in Taroudant, in the south west of Morocco.
Moroccan tourist officials hope that the French President's visit will boost the profile of Moroccan tourism, which is a mainstay of the economy.
