ALBAWABA - Tommy Robinson, a British activist, was arrested under anti-terror law, according to his supporters, during a rally in which a DVD was allegedly shown in contempt of court.
His detention was announced in a post on his verified X account, and it comes after Robinson organized a march and counter-protest in central London on Saturday, which drew hundreds of people.
A complaint was later filed about a film that was reportedly presented to the audience in violation of a High Court order, and police said they were conducting additional investigations.
A post on his X account on Sunday said: "We can confirm that Tommy Robinson has been detained by police using powers afforded to them under the Terrorism Act 2000".
Robinson, the actual name Stephen Yaxley Lennon, also released a one-hour, 45-minute clip on X on Saturday afternoon, stating that he had previously resisted uploading the movie because he was "scared".
It is unclear whether Robinson's arrest is linked to the film, which revolves around the case of Jamal Hijazi, a schoolboy who was attacked at Almondbury Community School in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, in October 2018.
