ALBAWABA - French Intelligence agents announced the arrest of suicide bombers who are believed to have ties with ISIS with plans to target the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Gérald Darmanin, the French interior minister, claimed police made "several arrests" in the two separate sprees. He told a TV channel that the government had not made the arrests public due to the ongoing election campaign, but that they implicated people who may have planned and carried out terrorist actions.

With an eventful month for France, starting with the second round of elections on July 7, the country is coming to two big events, with Bastille Day on July 14 and the Olympic games which begin on July 26, which might be facing a grave threat on the lives of people attending.

Darmanin stated that the nation's terrorism danger remains 'very high', following the country's surprise election results which prevented the far-right from securing power.

Following President Emmanuel Macron's surprising announcement of a quick legislative election on June 9, France has seen a surge in social unrest and mass protest.

Darmanin stated that his ministry has recorded 51 verbal and physical attacks against candidates, their deputies, and supporters during the campaign. He stated that many of the attacks were "very serious", and that at least 30 people "from incredibly diverse backgrounds" had been arrested.
