Four US soldiers were injured in an explosion Tuesday in Iraq, after their secured military convoy hit a landmine.
The vehicle was also damaged as a result of the explosion. One of the four soldiers is said to be in serious condition.
According to witnesses, the blast occurred west of Baghdad, in an area some 50 kilometers from the capital.
The 4th Infantry Division, meanwhile, reported a soldier was seriously wounded in a mortar attack Monday near the town of Balad, 80 kilometers north of Baghdad.
Elsewhere, firefighters on Tuesday contained an oil blaze blamed on saboteurs on the major Turkish-bound pipeline in northern Iraq.
The pipeline fire was the fifth such attack on the oil delivery system in less than a month, the AP reported. (Albawaba.com)
