Four periodicals in Iran have been served notices to suspend publication temporarily for going to extremes in reporting on events, and for publishing scandalous headlines and indecent articles, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA) on Tuesday.

The four periodicals are Golbang Iran, Nakhl, Ava-ye Varzesh and Bazar-e Rouz.

Since April 2000, conservative-run courts have closed down nearly 40 publications, mostly pro-reform, and jailed dozens of journalists on various charges of disparaging Islam and the religious elements of the Islamic revolution, according to IRNA - Albawaba.com
