Former Iranian president, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Friday said that US rulers had just unleashed the first of their many hegemonic designs by starting a military blitz in
Afghanistan, leading the world into a big danger.
"There must be very massive objectives in the minds of White House rulers who started with Afghanistan and only they know what the final end is. But, common sense says that the world is heading for a danger," he told worshipers at the weekly Friday prayers.
Rafsanjani, who is the chairman of the arbitrative Expediency Council, said the United States' aggressive stance had roots in its internal problems which Washington wanted to resolve at the cost of Middle Eastern countries, including Palestine and Iraq.
"There is much pressure on the UN Security Council to issue another resolution against Iraq. What may happen in the future we do not know, since it is hard to make any prediction," he was quoted as saying by IRNA. "The situation for an attack on Iraq is hard and there is no coalition similar to the one over Afghanistan. Meanwhile, it is not known where the war may lead and what may happen," Rafsanjani added.
"Tehran is also against Iraq to have dangerous arms since Iraqis have proved to lack the quality to own such weapons. But, any measure for Iraq's disarmament must be carried out under the UN aegis. Otherwise, America's unilateral move to unleash a war is to strike a match on a barrel of gunpowder," Rafsanjani conveyed.
The former Iranian president also denounced American Congress' recent move to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. "The American move in this juncture and in the face of the Islamic world's public opinion has many implications," he declared. (Albawaba.com)
