Iran's former president Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Sunday the US launched a campaign against Islam under the cover of its globalization policy. He made these comments in the inauguration ceremony of the 18th International Conference on Islamic Unity.
Arguing that following the September 11 attacks the real attitude of the hegemonic powers manifested itself in the remarks of the American President George W. Bush who termed the Islamic world as the cradle of terrorism and horror, Rafsanjani added the enemies of Islam with the criminal US on top of the list were manipulating the motto of fighting terrorism and establishing democracy as an excuse to intervene in the internal affairs of the regional countries.
However, he added the enemies would fail to achieve their desired goals due to the contradictions they face in their decision makings.
