Australia's Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said Tuesday that the opposition party should currently set a timetable for the pullout of Australian troops from Iraq.
Australian Radio picked up in Kuwait Tuesday quoted Downer as saying that Australian soldiers in Iraq were playing a "pivotal role" and should not leave the country before schedule.
Downer expressed hope that opposition Labor leader Mark Latham would understand the importance of Australian existence in Iraq.
Latham, who is currently leading in opinion polls, said Tuesday that if he were to win the elections due in October or November, he would bring all Australian troops home by the end of the year. (Albawaba.com)
