Five people were killed and over 40 injured early Wednesday when a coach packed with British tourists was involved in a collision near the southwestern Turkish coastal resort of Koycegiz, British consular authorities said.
Those killed, all Turkish nationals, included the coach driver, who was apparently trying to overtake a bus when he collided head-on with a car in darkness, Anatolia news agency reported.
The car’s driver, along with the driver of the bus and two of its passengers, were also killed. One British man, believed to be in his mid-60s, sustained head injuries but was later reported to be in a stable condition in hospital, British officials said. Another 45 tourists were also injured, suffering mostly cuts, bruises and fractures.
The coach, from the Airtours company, was taking the tourists who had just flown in from Manchester, England to Marmaris. (Albawaba.com)
