Five men found guilty of kidnapping and raping women in the northern Iranian city of Gorgan were executed on Friday, an official said.
The five were members of a gang that created an atmosphere of fear in the Nahar-Khoran region, to the extent that the victims did not dare to complain about the abuses, the official told the Iranian news agency, IRNA.
Nahar-Khoran is a vast area of forests near Gorgan, which thousands of Iranians visit daily for recreation.
