First tube baby in western region of Algeria

The first tube baby in the western region of Algeria was born on July 4 in Elias Medical Birth Clinic in Wahran, reported the Algerian newspaper, Al-Khabar Wednesday.  The baby, named "Duha" was born through Caesarean section and was reported to be in good health. The baby's parents reached Al-Mawlud Center in Wahran after 4 years of infertility due to male infertility problem. The pregnancy started in October and was followed by the center's doctors until its happy end on Tuesday.


Al-Mawlud center, located in Al-Uthmania neighborhood in Wahran was opened one and a half year ago, and has achieved good results since than. According
to Dr. Balmahi, the general manager of the center, 16 out of 40 women treated in it through fertilization inside their body succeeded in getting pregnant, a success rate considered high compared to the 30% success  rate accepted in the world in such cases.


It should be mentioned that there are another four medical centers for fertilization operating in Algeria, two of them in the capital, one in Constantine Province and one in Annaba Province.
