Iraqi and Kuwaiti officials met for the first time in four years on Wednesday to review the fate of hundreds of their citizens missing since the 1991 Gulf War and agreed on further talks in two weeks, sponsored by the Red Cross in Jordan.

"They had constructive and positive talks and agreed to meet again here in Amman on January 22," said Moin Qassis, a spokesman for the International Committee for the Red Cross in the Jordanian capital, cited by AFP

In the course of talks, Iraqi and Kuwaiti representatives met behind closed doors at the ICRC headquarters in Amman along with Saudi officials and a senior Red Cross official from Geneva.

"The meeting was the start of a dialogue and all three parties (Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia) met, listened to each other and dialogued in a constructive and good manner," Qassis told reporters following the discussions. (Albawaba.com)
