Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan Motor Company, will be featured in the first ever Arabic documentary on his life and career on LBC TV channel tonight. The documentary took nearly a year to film in Dubai, Beirut, Paris and Tokyo, and highlights his background and parts of his daily ritual as head of an automotive giant.
Monal Zeidan, Senior Manager, Marketing & Corporate Communications Departments at Nissan Middle East said: “People know Mr. Ghosn as the man who turned around Nissan’s fortune from near bankruptcy to one of the most profitable auto companies in just 2 years. His business plans are known and clear, but his personality has remained an intriguing question for many people. I am not surprised LBC chose to call this documentary film The Breakthrough Man.”
LBC TV took the initiative to focus on a more personal level, bringing them closer to understanding his persona and character. The end result was a revealing history of the CEO’s life, from his early childhood until his appointment as Nissan CEO, and the turnaround that has occurred at Nissan since then.
Ghosn is responsible for one of the most breathtaking business turnarounds of all time, during which the company’s design innovation, quality standards and products were totally revived. This has since become a case study with leading business schools globally.
Nissan is a global automotive company with 140,000 employees and $80 billion in revenue. Ghosn joined the company as its chief operating officer in June 1999, became its president in June 2000 and was named chief executive offer in June 2001. On April 29, 2005, Ghosn was named president and chief executive officer of Renault S.A. in addition to his current responsibilities at Nissan. As head of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, Ghosn is responsible for two separate companies with combined annual global sales of 5.7 million vehicles.
